Aria is leveraging fiber photometry, genetically encoded bio-sensors, and MALDI mass spectrometry to understand how the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein interacts with ACE2 expression in the Basal Ganglia. She is interested in examining how exposure to COVID 19 in the brain might influence peptidergic, dopaminergic, and cholinergic signaling as well as potentially change striatal physiology in the long term.
