Sonia Bernal
B.A. Biology, Fordham University
Sonia is interested in understanding how Shh signaling affects animal behavior on a fast, physiologically-relevant timescale. For this purpose, her current efforts in the lab are focused on developing an activation-based biosensor that can image the spatiotemporal dynamics of Shh signaling in real-time. Additionally, she is utilizing CRISPR technology to produce conditional knockouts for the purpose of understanding how different signaling pathways within the Basal Ganglia contribute to physiology and behavior.
